Oarsome Odyssey
There's something about being on the water with other veterans that breaks down walls no clinical setting ever could.
What it looks like
Oarsome Odyssey is the flagship outdoor engagement program of the Southern Illinois Veterans Foundation. Built on the belief that connection and shared experiences can change lives, this program uses waterways — boating, rowing, and expedition-based adventures — to bring veterans together in meaningful ways.
Through initiatives like our American Great Loop expedition, participants have opportunities to reconnect with themselves, build lasting friendships, develop new skills, and rediscover a sense of purpose. Whether it's a local day on the water or a multi-day adventure, Oarsome Odyssey creates an environment where veterans can find community, support, and healing through shared experiences.
